# Cancel a Server

> Cancel a FlashRDP Windows RDP or Linux VPS from the Billing Portal at the end of the paid term or immediately, and what happens to your data.

You can cancel a server yourself from the [Billing Portal](https://new.flashrdp.com/servers). Choose whether it stops at the end of the term you already paid for, or right away.

<Warning>
  When a cancelled server is removed, everything on it is deleted and can't be recovered. Copy your data off the server before it is removed.
</Warning>

## Request cancellation

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Settings tab">
    Click **Servers**, then your server, then the **Settings** tab. Under **Danger zone**, click **Cancel server…**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose when">
    * **End of term:** the server stays online until its paid term ends (the date is shown), then it is removed. It does not renew.
    * **Immediately:** the server is removed within 24 hours of your request.

    <Warning>
      With **Immediately**, the server and everything on it can be gone within hours. Take a [backup](/docs/control-panel/backups) or copy your files off first.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tell us why">
    Pick a **Reason**: **I no longer need it**, **It costs too much**, **Performance or reliability**, **Technical problems**, **Moving to another provider** or **Something else**. You can add a note in **Anything we should know?** (optional).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Click **Cancel at end of term** or **Cancel immediately**. To back out, click **Keep server**.

    <Frame caption="The Cancel server dialog">
      <img src="https://mintcdn.com/flashrdp/313-FW0pgzmMR-hB/images/portal/cancel-dialog.webp?fit=max&auto=format&n=313-FW0pgzmMR-hB&q=85&s=b50461fb04cf50f85a35b3c7f45db3ee" alt="The Cancel server dialog with End of term and Immediately options, a reason and an optional note" width="1440" height="900" data-path="images/portal/cancel-dialog.webp" />
    </Frame>
  </Step>
</Steps>

After you confirm, the server page shows a **Cancellation requested** banner with the removal date. On the **Settings** tab, the **Cancel server** row changes to **Cancellation requested** with a greyed-out **Requested** button.

## Changed your mind?

A cancellation request can't be withdrawn in the Billing Portal. Click **Keep this server** on the banner as soon as possible: it opens a support ticket with the server already selected. We stop the cancellation if the server has not been removed yet.

## Good to know

* Refunds follow our [refund policy](/docs/terms/refund-policy) and [termination terms](/docs/terms/termination-of-service).
* **Paying by card with automatic renewal?** Cancelling the server does not stop the card renewal. Cancel it directly with Tebex, our card processor, or [open a support ticket](https://new.flashrdp.com/support/new).
* Just want a smaller plan? [Open a ticket](https://new.flashrdp.com/support/new) instead of cancelling.
* You can cancel servers that are active. For a suspended server, [contact support](/docs/account/support).
