# Refunds and Cancellation FAQ

> When FlashRDP refunds a payment, how to cancel a Windows RDP or Linux VPS server, what End of term and Immediately mean, and what happens to your data.

<Info>
  This page summarises our policies in plain language. If anything here differs from the [Refund Policy](/docs/terms/refund-policy), [Payment Terms](/docs/terms/payment-terms) or [Termination of Service](/docs/terms/termination-of-service), those documents apply.

## Refunds

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="When do I get a refund?" icon="receipt">
    You get a full refund to your original payment method if:

    * **your server isn't delivered within 24 hours** of your payment, or
    * **a payment was made with your card or account without your permission** and we confirm it (fraud), or
    * **we make a material change to our Terms** that you don't accept: you can end your services and ask for a prorated refund of the unused prepaid time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="When is a refund not available?" icon="ban">
    * Once your server has been delivered.
    * When you're unhappy with the operating system, performance or how your workload fits the server. Delivering the server as ordered completes the purchase.
    * When you cancel a server yourself.
    * When a server is terminated for breaking the [Acceptable Use Policy](/docs/terms/use-of-service).
    * For downgrades: they apply from the next billing cycle.

    Choose your plan carefully, and start with monthly billing if you're unsure.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why are most purchases not refundable?" icon="circle-help">
    Your server is created and its resources are assigned to you as soon as your payment is confirmed, and payment-processing fees aren't returned to us when a payment is reversed. That's why the policy refunds failed deliveries and fraud, but not a change of mind after the server has been delivered.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I ask for a refund?" icon="message-square">
    [Open a ticket](https://new.flashrdp.com/support/new) in the Support Desk with your invoice number and the reason. Requests are usually reviewed within 24 to 48 hours. See [How to request a refund](/docs/terms/refund-policy#how-to-request-a-refund).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where does a goodwill credit go?" icon="wallet">
    Discretionary compensation, for example for an outage, is added to your account credit rather than paid out. It can pay for future invoices.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens if I file a chargeback?" icon="triangle-alert">
    The server paid for with the disputed payment is suspended while the dispute is reviewed. If it's resolved in FlashRDP's favour, the server is reinstated. Chargebacks found to be fraudulent or abusive can lead to a \$25.00 handling fee and permanent termination. Contact us first; most billing problems are solved faster through a ticket. See [Chargebacks](/docs/terms/refund-policy#chargebacks).

## Cancelling a server

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How do I cancel a server?" icon="circle-x">
    In the [Billing Portal](https://new.flashrdp.com/servers), open the server, go to the **Settings** tab and click **Cancel server…**. Choose when, pick a reason, then confirm. See [Cancel a server](/docs/control-panel/cancel-server).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the difference between End of term and Immediately?" icon="calendar">
    * **End of term:** the server stays online until its paid period ends, then it's removed and doesn't renew. You keep the time you paid for.
    * **Immediately:** the server and its data are removed within 24 hours of your request. The unused part of the term isn't refunded.

    Most people should choose **End of term**. Either way, the disk and its backups are deleted for good when the server is removed; see [Backups and data](/docs/faq/backups-and-data).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does cancelling stop my card being charged?" icon="credit-card">
    Not if you set up automatic card renewal. Cancel the renewal directly with Tebex, our card processor, or [open a ticket](https://new.flashrdp.com/support/new) and we cancel it for you. Cryptocurrency payments never renew automatically.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I undo a cancellation?" icon="undo">
    You can't withdraw it yourself. As soon as possible, click **Keep this server** on the cancellation banner, which opens a ticket for that server, or [open a ticket](https://new.flashrdp.com/support/new). We can stop the cancellation if the server hasn't been removed yet.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel a suspended server?" icon="circle-pause">
    Cancellation from the Billing Portal works for active servers. For a suspended server, [open a ticket](https://new.flashrdp.com/support/new). If you simply don't pay, a suspended server is terminated automatically 5 days after its due date.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I close my whole account?" icon="user-x">
    Cancel your servers first, then email `privacy@flashrdp.com` from your account email to ask for account deletion. Invoices are kept as long as tax law requires. See the [Privacy Policy](/docs/terms/privacy-policy).
  </Accordion>
