n8n VPS · Self-hosted automation
Self-host n8n on your own VPS.
A FlashRDP n8n VPS is an Ubuntu 24.04 KVM server with full root access for running self-hosted n8n in Docker, with your workflows, credentials and execution data on a machine you control. Plans start at $11.99/month for 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM, in Phoenix, AZ or Paris, France.
What self-hosted n8n needs
n8n runs as a Docker container. Its docs note that it isn't CPU intensive and that memory usually matters more than CPU, so size the server by RAM.
| Need | n8n | FlashRDP Linux VPS |
|---|---|---|
| Runtime | The n8nio/n8n Docker image, port 5678 | Ubuntu 24.04 on KVM with full root, so Docker runs on a real kernel |
| Memory | Usually the limit, more than CPU | 4 GB (Bronze) to 32 GB |
| CPU | Light; n8n isn't CPU intensive | 2 to 8 vCPU (shared) |
| Database | SQLite by default; PostgreSQL optional | Run PostgreSQL in the same Compose stack |
| Webhooks and HTTPS | A public hostname set in N8N_WEBHOOK_URL | Dedicated IPv4 for your domain's A record |
| Persistent data | The /home/node/.n8n volume | 50 GB SSD and up; optional on-demand backups |
Pick a plan by how much you run
Start small: n8n with PostgreSQL and a reverse proxy fits on Bronze. Move up when you add queue-mode workers or other self-hosted apps.
One n8n instance
BRONZE
2 vCPU · 4 GB RAM · from $11.99/mo
n8n, PostgreSQL and a reverse proxy for one team's workflows.
Queue mode or heavier workflows
SILVER
4 vCPU · 8 GB RAM · from $22.39/mo
Add Redis and n8n workers, or workflows that move large files.
n8n plus other apps
GOLD
6 vCPU · 16 GB RAM · from $35.99/mo
n8n alongside other self-hosted services in Docker.
Every plan is the same price in Phoenix and Paris. See the full Linux VPS plan range; on-demand backups are $5/month, free on quarterly or longer billing.
A minimal Compose file
This is trimmed from n8n's Docker Compose guide. n8n listens on localhost only; a reverse proxy such as Traefik or Caddy serves it over HTTPS on your domain. Replace n8n.example.com and the time zone with your own.
On n8n versions before 2.30.0, use WEBHOOK_URL instead of N8N_WEBHOOK_URL. Add a PostgreSQL service and the DB_POSTGRESDB_* variables when you outgrow SQLite.
License: n8n is fair-code under the Sustainable Use License. Self-host it for your own use; check the license before offering it to clients.

Self-hosted n8n questions
Is n8n free to self-host?
n8n's Sustainable Use License lets you self-host for your own internal business or personal, non-commercial use. It does not allow offering n8n to others as a hosted automation service, and enterprise-only features need an Enterprise license.
How much RAM does n8n need?
n8n's docs say memory usually matters more than CPU; their AWS example gives the n8n container a 250 to 500 MiB memory range. Bronze (4 GB) leaves room for PostgreSQL and a reverse proxy beside it. Watch memory as workflows grow and size up if it stays high.
Should I use SQLite or PostgreSQL?
Self-hosted n8n uses SQLite by default. You can switch to PostgreSQL by setting DB_TYPE=postgresdb and the DB_POSTGRESDB_* connection variables, which is the usual choice for production and for queue mode.
Can I scale n8n with queue mode?
Yes. Queue mode runs a main n8n process plus workers that pull jobs from Redis. Worker concurrency defaults to 10; n8n recommends 5 or higher. Silver or larger gives workers room to run.
Will webhooks work?
Yes, once n8n is reachable on a public HTTPS hostname. Set N8N_WEBHOOK_URL to that address (WEBHOOK_URL on n8n versions before 2.30.0) so n8n builds the right webhook URLs.
Can I use Coolify instead of Docker Compose?
Yes. Coolify can deploy n8n as a one-click service and handles HTTPS for you. See the Coolify VPS page if you prefer a dashboard to Compose files.
