Ubuntu is actually a derivative of Debian. The main difference is stability versus freshness. Debian 'Stable' packages are older, but heavily patched and tested to ensure they never crash. Ubuntu uses newer packages which introduces new features, but also new potential bugs.

Rocky Linux uses the RPM package format and `dnf`, while Debian uses DEB and `apt`. Rocky is a clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), making it popular in corporate enterprise environments. Debian is community-driven and generally consumes slightly less RAM at idle.
