What an MT4 or MT5 VPS needs

Choose the location closest to your broker
Latency depends on where your broker's trade server sits. Paris is close to many European trading hubs. Phoenix is in the US but far from New York, so traders on New York servers should measure first. MetaTrader shows the ping to the trade server in the bottom-right corner of the terminal.

What is a forex VPS?
A forex VPS is a Windows virtual server you reach over Remote Desktop to run MetaTrader or another trading platform 24/7. Your Expert Advisors keep trading while your own computer is off. At FlashRDP it is a KVM Windows Server with full Administrator access.
How much RAM does MT4 need on a VPS?
A terminal with a handful of charts typically uses a few hundred MB. Bronze (4 GB) suits 1-2 terminals and Silver (8 GB) 3-5. Watch Task Manager after loading your EAs and size up if memory stays high.
How low is the latency to my broker?
It depends on where your broker's trade server is. Paris is close to many European trading hubs; Phoenix is in the US but far from New York. MetaTrader shows the ping to the trade server in the bottom-right corner of the terminal, so check it after setup.
Can I run MT4 and MT5 at the same time on one server?
Yes. Install each terminal in its own folder and log each one in to its own broker account. Size the plan by RAM: Silver or Gold for 3 or more terminals.
How do I keep MT4 running when I close Remote Desktop?
Close the Remote Desktop window with the X at the top. Don't shut down, restart or sign out inside Windows. The server stays on and your EAs keep trading until you stop them.
Is a Windows Server license included?
Windows Server comes preinstalled with Microsoft's 180-day evaluation license at no extra cost. FlashRDP does not resell SPLA licenses, so for long-term production use you activate your own Windows Server license.
Does FlashRDP work with all forex brokers?
Any broker that provides a Windows MT4 or MT5 terminal works. Download the installer from the broker's official website and log in with your trading account.
