Connecting to a Windows server is incredibly easy, no matter what operating system or device you are using right now.

What You Need

Before we get started, make sure you have your FlashRDP server details handy:
  • Your Server IP address (you can find this in your FlashRDP client portal)
  • Username (this is almost always Administrator)
  • Password (check the welcome email we sent you when the server was built)

How to Connect

Choose your current operating system below to see the connection instructions:
If you’re already using a Windows PC, connecting to your new server is incredibly easy. You don’t need to download or install any extra software. The tool you need - called Remote Desktop Connection - is already built right into Windows.
1

Open the Run Dialog

On your keyboard, hold down the Windows key and press R to open the Run box.
2

Launch Remote Desktop

Type mstsc into the box and press Enter. This opens the Remote Desktop Connection app.
3

Enter Your Server IP

In the Computer field, paste your FlashRDP server’s IP address. Click Connect.
4

Enter Your Login Details

A window will pop up asking for your credentials. Enter Administrator as the username, paste your password, and click OK.
5

Accept the Certificate Warning

You’ll likely see a security certificate warning pop up. This is totally normal for a new server! Just check the “Don’t ask me again” box and click Yes to finish connecting.
Pro-Tip: Save Your Connection Don’t want to type your IP address every time? Before you click Connect, hit Show Options at the bottom of the window. Click Save As to create a shortcut icon on your desktop. Next time, just double-click the shortcut to jump straight into your FlashRDP server!

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Having trouble getting in? Here are the most common fixes:
  • Double-check the IP address to make sure you didn’t accidentally paste an extra space at the end.
  • Head over to the client portal and make sure your FlashRDP server status says Running.
  • If you’re on a strict corporate or school network, they might be blocking port 3389. Try connecting from a different network or a hotspot to test.
  • Passwords are case-sensitive and often have tricky special characters. Try copying and pasting it directly from your welcome email.
  • If you changed your password recently inside the server, use that new one instead.
  • If you’re totally locked out, you can always reset the password from your FlashRDP control panel.
