Questions about FlashRDP Windows RDP servers: Windows Server versions, licensing, connecting from any device, simultaneous users, audio, trading terminals and keeping programs running.
Windows Server 2025 Standard, 2022 Standard, 2022 Optimized and 2019 Standard. You choose when you deploy, and you can switch versions later from the Reinstall tab. See Windows RDP overview.
Is a Windows license included?
Windows Server is installed with Microsoft’s 180-day evaluation license at no extra cost. FlashRDP doesn’t sell Windows licenses. For use beyond the evaluation period, activate your own Windows Server license. See User responsibilities.
Is it a desktop or a server?
Both. Windows Server has the same desktop, Start menu and File Explorer you know from Windows 10 and 11, and it runs most Windows desktop programs. It’s built to stay online and accept remote connections.
The quickest way: on the server’s Overview tab in the Billing Portal, click .rdp file under Connect with Remote Desktop, open the file and sign in as Administrator. You can also enter the IP address in any Remote Desktop app. See Connect to Windows RDP.
Can I connect from a Mac, iPhone, Android or Linux?
Yes. Use the Windows App on macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Android, or Remmina on Linux. Step-by-step instructions for each are in Connect to Windows RDP.
What's my username and password?
The username is Administrator. The password is in your setup email, or set a new one with Reset next to Password on the server’s Overview tab. See Reset server password.
How many people can be connected at the same time?
Windows Server allows two simultaneous Remote Desktop sessions for administration. More concurrent users need Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) client access licenses, which you buy and install yourself.
Does sound play through Remote Desktop?
Yes. Start the Windows Audio service on the server, then choose to play sound on your computer in your Remote Desktop app’s settings.
Yes, if you close the Remote Desktop window. Don’t Sign out from the Start menu: signing out closes your programs. Restarting the server also stops programs unless you set them to start automatically.
Can I run MT4, MT5 or trading bots?
Yes. Many customers run MetaTrader and expert advisors 24/7. Choose the location closest to your broker’s servers for the lowest latency. See Run MT4/MT5 on a VPS.
Which plan should I pick for Windows?
Windows uses more memory than Linux. BRONZE (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM) suits one or two trading terminals or light browsing; SILVER (4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM) or larger suits several programs, many browser tabs or heavier apps. You can upgrade later without reinstalling.
Can I change the Remote Desktop port?
Yes, and it’s one of the best ways to cut down automated sign-in attempts. Follow Secure your Windows RDP. Keep the built-in Administrator account working, because the Billing Portal’s password reset uses it.
Can I install from my own ISO?
Yes, through the advanced Server Panel in the classic client area, which can mount ISO media. See Advanced Server Panel.
